I didn't organize this list in anyway, favorite to least favorites, least favorite to favorite, alphabetically (way too much work), by author, publishing date, etc. etc. I just typed them as I thought of them. So here they are! If there are any you think absolutely must be included please post them, just remember my dislike of sappiness, lack of morals in the book, and terrible dialogue and descriptions.
1. Anne of Green Gables Series, Lucy Maud Montgomery (If you have not read these do so before you read anything else!)
2. Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy
3. Ivanhoe, Sir Walter Scott
4. Freckles, Jean Stratton Porter
5. Girl of the Limberlost, Jean Stratton Porter
6. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
7. Emma, Jane Austen
8. Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen
9. Persuasion, Jane Austen
10. The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald
11. An Old Fashioned Girl, Louisa May Alcott
12. Eight Cousins/Rose in Bloom, Louisa May Alcott
13. Nicholas Nickleby, Charles Dickens
14. That Hideous Strength, C.S. Lewis (fabulous, like everything C.S. Lewis wrote)
15. Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare
16. Laddie, Jean Stratton Porter
17. Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte
18. The Scarlet Pimpernel, Baroness Orczy (who can resist a book written by a Baroness?)
19. The Phantom of the Opera, Gaston Leroux
20. Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoyevsky (okay, so it isn’t exactly dripping love, but it is in there, and I have to get this book on the list).
21. Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte 22. The Virginian, Owen Wister
I think next time I may talk about Emma versus Pride and Prejudice and which I prefer and why, or, just to keep my options open, I may decided that they are both equally amazing and Jane Austen is an absolute genius. You never know.
